At Last, Tiwa Savage Reacts To Oyo School Kidnap Crisis
Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has expressed shock over the reported abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, questioning why the disturbing incident is not receiving wider attention online.
The singer said she only recently became aware of the incident after seeing posts shared online by fellow entertainer Spyro and media personality KieKie.
Speaking about the reports of the kidnapping of school children and teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Tiwa Savage expressed concern that the reported attack was not receiving the level of public attention she expected despite the seriousness of the case.
“I just started seeing the kidnapping that happened in Oyo just yesterday. It was Spyro’s post that came up,” she said.
The singer explained that she immediately began contacting people to understand what truly happened because the story was barely appearing on her social media timeline.
According to her, she later discovered claims that the abduction had reportedly happened nearly two weeks earlier, a revelation that left her deeply disturbed.
“It’s not trending enough. It’s not trending as much as it should. Then I saw KieKie’s post saying the incident has taken place for almost two weeks,” Tiwa Savage added.
Her reaction follows reports that armed attackers invaded a school in the Oriire area of Oyo State, allegedly abducting students, teachers and the school principal.
Reports also claimed that one of the teachers was killed, while several children remain in captivity.
The incident has continued to spark outrage online, with several public figures joining the conversations around the tragedy, using their platforms to demand stronger action against rising insecurity and attacks on schools across the country.
Although investigations into the incident are still ongoing, growing public concern has placed more pressure on authorities to secure the release of those reportedly still being held captive.
