MIKEL OBI : I’ll ensure Eagles qualify for W’Cup

Former Chelsea Player and Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, has said the national team were in confident mood ahead of their crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cameroon on Friday in Uyo.

The China-based midfielder, who is making a return to the squad, said he was back to guide the Eagles to next year’s World Cup in Russia.

“We are ready for (the game versus Cameroon), the team is a mix of young and experienced players,” the ex-Chelsea man said.

“I am here to make sure we qualify for the World Cup. Everybody dreams to go to the World Cup. We are playing at home, we are fit and we have what it takes to win the match.”

He maintained that the team had been working assiduously and was hopeful they would beat the Indomitable Lions.

In the same vein, Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has said the players would be more aggressive in their approach to the World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The German stated, “The list of players makes the difference, not so young, more of experienced players. We already have six points;and all players are in high spirits.

“We know that we have a good team, we are ready to make the difference and we are confident of beating the Indomitable Lions in Uyo.”

He appealed to fans to support the Eagles to win the first leg of the match, saying that a win would move the Eagles to do better in the return leg.

BREAKING: Vincent #Aboubakar Masterclass Performance Seals #Cameroon Come Back From 2 Goals Down Against #Serbia—-A tremendous game ended in a 3-3 draw, Serbia rebounding from a 1-0 deficit to take a 3-1 lead before Cameroon rushed back to level the match. Cameroon must now beat Brazil and hope, while a win over Switzerland should do it for Serbia.

With both sides needing a win, both went for it in an entertaining half, Serbia with the greater quality. But a well-taken corner earned Cameroon the lead, Jean-Charles Castelletto tapping home at the back post after a fine flick-on from Nicolas N’Koulou.

The setback knocked Serbia a little, but by the end of the 45, they were back in charge, scoring twice in six added minutes through Strahinja Pavlovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to turn the game around and, when Aleksandr Mitrovic added a third on 53 minutes, the game looked over.

But almost immediately afterwards, Rigobert Song sent on Vincent Boubakar, who scored a glorious livener – disallowed, then allowed by VAR and the semi-automatic offside situation – then set up Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting for a tap-in at the end of a terrific counter.

A draw does little for both sides, but the World Cup now has a new best game.

For years, football has fiddled with its laws, but done nothing about its timekeeping. Now, though, the minutes added on at the end of halves reflect something of what has gone on during them, and the six allocated to the first period in this game made a significant different to the match, Serbia taking the opportunity to score twice.

The system is not perfect – there is no reason we shouldn’t be able to see the ref’s watch displayed in the ground and on screens, and no when it’s stopped and when it’s running. But proficiency in timewasting shouLd not be an essential part of a footballer’s armoury, and Fifa finally taking action in this aspect made a significant contribution to the best match of the World Cup so far.

BREAKING: #Chelsea Sells Christian #Pulisic To Premier League Rivals?

BREAKING: #Chelsea Sells Christian #Pulisic To Premier League Rivals?—-According to Mail report, Christian Pulisic has attracted the attention of multiple Premier League clubs after putting in a Player of the Match performance in United States’ 0-0 draw against England at the World Cup.

TGM gathered that Manchester United, Newcastle United and Arsenal all have Pulisic on their radars ahead of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has just 18 months remaining on his contract at Chelsea and the Blues are considering the possibility of cashing in on Pulisic before the summer. Chelsea have slapped a £35 million price tag on the former Borussia Dortmund star.

Pulisic’s £58 million transfer to Chelsea back in 2019 has not really worked out. The winger was rated very highly as a youngster at Dortmund, but he has failed to replicate that form at Stamford Bridge.

It’s quite similar to Hakim Ziyech’s situation at Chelsea too. The pair haven’t really managed to get a consistent run of games, but we are seeing them shine at the 2022 World Cup. Obviously, there’s a top-quality player in there so Chelsea should be careful about selling Pulisic to a Premier League rival.

BREAKING: Lionel #Messi Joins Inter Miami? – #FIFAWorldCup—–The Seven Time Ballon D’or Winner and Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi, is set for a stunning move to Inter Miami.

The MLS team is confident Messi will formalise a switch as a free agent to become the highest-paid player in the history of the sport in the US.

The 35-year-old is believed to be on a salary of around £1.2million-a-week and would take a pay cut at Inter, which is co-owned by ex-Real Madrid midfielder, David Beckham.

However, he would be by far the top earner the game in America has ever seen.

Messi has a home in Miami and is known to regularly holiday there.

The club are already trying to recruit other players who will fit with Messi’s style of play with former Barcelona team-mates Luis Suarez and Cesc Fabregas under consideration.

Inter Miami are managed by another former United player, Phil Neville, who has just signed a contract extension.

Messi’s current deal at PSG expires in June 2023.
