BREAKING: Manchester United Sacks Michael Carrick, Set For Huge Decision On Successor?
According to dressing room insiders expect Michael Carrick to be sacked by Manchester United.
While no final decision had been communicated to Carrick by the hierarchy as of Sunday night, the feeling among United staff is that he will be the latest casualty of United’s managerial revolving door.
United had already begun assessing potential replacements following Wednesday’s 4-1 Champions League humbling at Como.
These include former Germany and Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann and ex Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.
Nagelsmann’s case is being pushed by United head of recruitment Christopher Vivell while technical director Jason Wilcox favours a manager with Premier League experience like Howe.
One-time Tottenham boss Antonio Conte would be keen but comes with a fiery reputation.
Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler are also admired by Wilcox but neither are inclined to leave their present clubs for United.
Carrick only signed a two-year contract with United in the summer after piloting them to Champions League qualification but that deal is believed to include a break clause.
The Red Devils have a clear week before travelling to Chelsea live on talkSPORT on Saturday.
