Barely 24-Hour After Oriire SchoolChildren Rescue, Terrorists Demand N30 Million Ransom After Kidnapping Oyo Headmaster
A day after the rescue of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, another teacher has been kidnapped in a fresh attack in the state.
The victim, identified as Mr. Owoade Matthew Kolawale is the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area, Oyo State.
He was reportedly abducted on Saturday evening while returning from his farm.
According to his son, Mr. Owoade Abiola, the incident happened between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. as the headmaster was returning from his farm in Budo Aare when armed men intercepted and whisked him away.
Abiola said the kidnappers eventually contacted the family using the victim’s mobile phone and demanded a ransom of ₦30 million for his release.
Following his abduction, members of the community launched a search operation, which led to the recovery of his motorcycle abandoned in a bush at about 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Family members, colleagues and concerned residents have called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies to intensify efforts to secure Mr. Kolawale’s release from the terrorists.
