BREAKING: Kai Havertz Shines As Arsenal Defeat Chelsea Home And Away To Reach Carabao Cup Final
Arsenal reached their first final since 2020 after beating Chelsea on aggregate to seal a place in the Carabao Cup final next month.
Liam Rosenior’s first trophy as Chelsea head coach will have to wait after his side crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the semi-final stage to Arsenal.
Kai Havertz’s goal, in the seventh minute of added time, gave Arsenal a win on the night, cementing their place in next month’s League Cup final
The Gunners will play one of Manchester City or Newcastle United in next month’s final at Wembley after 1-0 win in the second leg and a 4-2 win on aggregate. Arsenal almost seemed surprised by Rosenior’s shape in the first-half and it led to a rather dull opening 45 minutes in north London.
Rosenior altered the shape of his XI in the second half but not to much avail. Chelsea were unable to break down a strong Arsenal defence and were unable to create too many chances. Wesley Fofana flicked it wide after being found via an Enzo Fernandez corner on 82 minutes but that was about as close as the away side came on the night.
When Chelsea were pushing for a goal at the end, Arsenal caught them on the counter-attack and former Blues forward Kai Havertz rounded Robert Sanchez to win it for the Gunners on the night. Below, Bobby Vincent rates the Chelsea players out of 10 based on their performance this evening
