BREAKING: Three Cases Of Omicron Strain Of COVID-19 Confirmed By NCDC In Nigeria—The Genius Media Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says three passengers who arrived in the country on flights from South Africa have tested positive for the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

NCDC made this known in the official press release shared via its instagram account saying:

Through case and genomic surveillance at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control through its National Reference Laboratory, Nigeria confirmed it’s first case of the Omicron variant, also known as the B.1.1.529 lineage.

Samples obtained for the stipulated day two test for all travelers to Nigeria were positive for this variant in three persons with history of travel to South Africa.
