The Genius Media Nigeria report that In a statement, Sadiya Umar Farouq, minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development, asked state governments to implement measures that will address the impact of the heavy rainfall and flooding.

She said the 2020 Annual Flood Outlook forecasts that 102 local government areas (LGAs) in 28 states will have heavyrainfall, while 275 local government areas (LGAs) in the 36 states of the federation and Abujawill experience moderate flooding.
The minister called on state emergency management agencies, frontline local government authorities, and other response agencies to adopt precautionary actions by carrying out public enlightenment and ensuring the dredging of river channels and canals.
