History has been made tonight as The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon becomes WAFCON champions for the first time after defeating Malawi 3 – 0
Initially, Cameroon actually failed to qualify for this WAFCON 2026 but made it in after the tournament was expanded from 12 to 16 teams.
Cameroon, which missed the last edition, defeated host nation Morocco on penalties in the semifinals, where
Malawi overcame Algeria thanks to starring performances from the Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa.
It was Cameroon’s fourth appearance in the tournament final after losing three – all to 10-time winner Nigeria.
