ILLEGAL HAULAGE: Dangote Group Offers N500k Reward In Whistleblower Initiative

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has introduced a whistleblower initiative as the conglomerate moves to clamp down on the “illegal use” of its trucks.

The initiative includes a N500,000 reward to individuals who provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of persons involved in the illegal use of its branded trucks.

The company said the move is part of efforts to curb unauthorised haulage activities and protect the integrity of its nationwide logistics operations.

In a statement on Sunday, DIL encouraged the public to report any suspected cases of its trucks being used to transport unauthorised goods or passengers.

The company warned that only approved products are permitted to be conveyed by trucks belonging to its subsidiaries.

According to the statement, Dangote Cement trucks are authorised to transport only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are restricted to sugar products.

The company said trucks belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are designated for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products.

“Dangote Packaging vehicles are to carry bags and packaging materials, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals trucks are approved for polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are authorised to transport urea fertiliser,” the statement reads.

‘TRUCKS FOUND WITH UNAUTHORISED GOODS TO BE TREATED AS ILLEGAL HAULAGE’

Dangote said any of its trucks found conveying unauthorised goods would be treated as engaging in illegal haulage.

The company said drivers and owners of such goods risk arrest, confiscation of the cargo and prosecution.

“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorized goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the statement further reads.

Dangote urged whistleblowers to provide details such as the truck type, registration plate number, cab number, location, description of the goods being transported, colour of the vehicle, and photographs where possible, to aid investigations.

The company said it has established dedicated hotlines across its operations to receive reports of illegal haulage activities.

The group said law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been authorised to arrest drivers found using Dangote trucks for unauthorised commercial haulage.

Dangote Industries reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against logistics-related fraud, saying the whistleblower programme is aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and compliance across its logistics network.

“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities,” the company said.

“We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system.”

DIL said the initiative is expected to protect its assets, promote lawful business practices and ensure offenders are brought to justice.
