BREAKING: Chief Of Staff Gbajabiamila Threatens N10bn Suit Against PFIPC DG Over Defamatory Comments
Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu, has threatened a N10 billion defamation suit against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the convener of the presidential foreign investment promotion council (PFIPC), over allegations of murder and bribery.
In a letter signed by Kemi Pinheiro, Gbajabimila’s counsel, Adeyemi was asked to take down all videos in which he made the allegations against the chief of staff.
Adeyemi was also asked to publish a full retraction and apology in at least five national newspapers and across all social media platforms on which a press conference he conveyed on June 26 was circulated.
In the letter, Pinheiro described allegations made during the press conference as “not only false, malicious, reckless and entirely without factual foundation” but also designed to portray Gbajabimila as “corrupt, morally bankrupt, and a murderer”.
The lawyer said Gbajabimila and Adeyemi have never met or interacted in any way, adding that his allegations against someone whom he had never met were reckless and malicious.
“It is even more disturbing to our client that you resorted to defaming him through your press statements after a criminal charge had been filed against you,” part of the letter reads.
The lawyer warned that failure to comply with the demands within 72 hours would result in legal action without further notice.
THE SAGA
In June, the presidency distanced itself from the PFIPC, insisting that it does not exist under the current administration.
In a statement, Gbajabiamila said his office did not appoint Adeniyi Adeyemi to any position in the organisation.
However, at a press conference on June 26, Adeyemi questioned the June 11 statement issued by Gbajabiamila in which the chief of staff said the PFIPC does not exist under the Tinubu administration.

Adeyemi questioned how the PFIPC allegedly appeared in the 2026 budget if, as maintained by the presidency, the body does not exist.
He alleged that Gbajabiamila received N400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional N200 million to secure his appointment.
He also called for an investigation into the death of Babatunde Tanimola, whom he described as an intermediary, and alleged that attempts had been made on his life.
