APC Dismisses LADO’s Claim Against Senator Adeola Yayi, Describes Allegation as Baseless

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as baseless and laughable the claim by the Ladi Adebutu Democratic Organisation (LADO) questioning the indigeneship of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola in Ogun State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, May 28, 2026, by the Ogun State APC Publicity Secretary, Comrade Nuberu Adesanya Olufemi, the party condemned the remarks credited to LADO spokesperson, Afolabi Orekoya, saying the attempt to portray Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as a stranger in Ogun State was reckless, mischievous, and contrary to constitutional provisions.

The APC stated that the comments made during a radio programme on a private FM station in Ilese-Ijebu were nothing more than desperate political propaganda designed to divert public attention from the lingering crisis and disintegration currently rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.

According to the party, it was surprising that a politician with both maternal and paternal roots in Abeokuta and Yewaland respectively, and who presently represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, could be labelled a non-indigene of Ogun State.

The APC maintained that such allegations were clearly inconsistent with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution regarding citizenship and eligibility to contest elections.

The ruling party advised the PDP and its affiliates to channel their energy toward resolving their worsening internal crisis rather than attacking political opponents.

It further noted that the crisis within the PDP had deepened to the extent that several prominent stakeholders had defected to the APC, including the former PDP State Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Sikirulai Ogundele, alongside members of the PDP caucus in the Ogun State House of Assembly.

Describing the PDP as a sinking and crisis-ridden party, the APC said many of its members had continued to lose confidence in the party’s leadership and direction.

The statement also described as ironic the attempt by supporters of a governorship aspirant who allegedly abandoned his ancestral base in Iperu to contest election in Odogbolu, to now question the background of Senator Adeola through what it termed unfounded allegations.

Part of the statement read: “Nigerians are well aware of the fact that the PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, is facing a Federal Government court case linked to alleged vote-buying and money laundering during the 2023 Ogun State governorship election.

“We wait to see how such a candidate, whom the people of Ogun State are keeping at arm’s length because of his poor record, hopes to derive political capital from false, jejune, and illogical statements targeted at Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and his candidature.”

The APC added that the administration Senator Adeola seeks to succeed – the APC-led government under Governor Dapo Abiodun – has recorded remarkable achievements through massive road construction, industrial expansion, and landmark projects, including the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport located along the Ilishan-Iperu axis of the state.

The party stressed that Ogun residents would not allow the state to return to what it described as the dark era of the PDP marked by thuggery, scandals, and politically motivated violence.

According to the statement, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola remains the candidate to beat ahead of the 2027 governorship election, citing his grassroots engagements across Ogun State, constituency projects, and economic development blueprint.

The APC concluded that the people of Ogun State would reject what it called politics of deception and instead embrace continuity, stability, and sustainable development in the 2027 elections.
