Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that the opposition coalition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) would boost his chances in the 2027 general elections.

The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Atiku disclosed this in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme on Wednesday.

Responding to questions about what would make his latest presidential ambition different from previous attempts, Atiku noted that the coalition under the ADC platform comprises political leaders from major political parties.

Atiku pointed to what he described as a more structured and inclusive alliance cutting across political divides.

According to him, the arrangement represents a strategic realignment and margin of political forces ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said, “Now, we have a broader coalition a combination of APC, PDP, and LP which gives me a better chance of becoming president in 2027.

“You see people of my generation, you see people below my own generation down the line, so you can see clearly a succession pattern.”

Meanwhile, Atiku has described former President Goodluck Jonathan as a decent but inexperienced man.

According to Atiku, inexperience contributed greatly to Jonathan’s failure in office and to his eventual defeat at the polls in the 2015 presidential election.

In his words, “I know Goodluck Jonathan very well, he is a decent young man but also inexperienced, which contributed to his failure to manage the affairs of the country.”

He made the submission while advocating for experienced and capable leadership at the helm of affairs in Nigeria.
