JUST IN: President Tinubu Renews Professor Ayo Omotayo’s Appointment As NIPSS DG
President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Professor Ayo Omotayo as the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Tinubu approved the appointment renewal in a statement through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the appointment is for a final term of four years.
The statement added, “President Muhammadu Buhari initially appointed Omotayo in November 2021. The Senate confirmed the appointment in February 2022.
“Omotayo is a Professor of Environmental Sustainability. He attended the University of Ibadan from 1980 to 1990, where he obtained a PhD in Geography.
“He began his teaching career at the Lagos State University in 1985 and rose through the ranks to become a Senior Lecturer in 1992 at the age of 30.
“He was the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences between 2012 and 2017 and the Director of the Centre for Planning at Lagos State University until he was appointed Director-General of the National Institute in 2021.”
Meanwhile, Tinubu has celebrated former president and elder statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on his 89th birthday on March 5.
The President rejoiced with Chief Obasanjo, whose towering influence in the country, Africa, and beyond is significant.
President Tinubu noted the courage and sacrifices of the elder statesman, who previously served the nation as military Head of State from 1976 to 1979, handing over power to a civilian president in 1979, and later as the first civilian president in the fourth republic, 1999-2007.
