BREAKING: Ex-Mardid Striker, Karim Benzema Signs For Al Hilal From Al Ittihad
Karim Benzema has signed for Al Hilal, leaving fierce rivals Al Ittihad with immediate effect, according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The former Ballon d’Or winner agreed to all terms late on Monday night, marking one of the most surprising intra-league moves in Saudi Pro League history.
“Karim Benzema signs in as new Al Hilal player from Al Ittihad, HERE WE GO!” Romano posted.
“Former Ballon d’Or leaves Al Ittihad to join Inzaghi’s project at Al Hilal with immediate effect. Benzema agreed on all terms tonight,” he added.
The 38-year-old Frenchman, who arrived at Al Ittihad in summer 2023 after a glittering Real Madrid career crowned by the 2022 Ballon d’Or, had grown increasingly unsettled in Jeddah.
Contract extension talks collapsed over a proposed deal that reportedly offered no base salary beyond image rights, which Benzema and his camp viewed as disrespectful. He requested to be omitted from the squad and trained separately in recent weeks.
Al Hilal, the dominant force in the Saudi Pro League and current league leaders, secured the services of the prolific striker as they push for domestic and continental success under new manager Simone Inzaghi.
The Italian coach was appointed in June 2025 on a two-year deal after leaving Inter Milan, bringing tactical discipline and Champions League experience to the Riyadh club.
Benzema’s Real Madrid legacy remains untouchable: 354 goals in 648 appearances, multiple Champions Leagues, and that iconic 2021-22 campaign that earned him the Ballon d’Or. In Saudi Arabia, he has continued to deliver at an elite level despite the transition.
