Buhari’s Ex-Aide, Bashir Ahmad Says Peter Obi Is A Good Person
Former media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, on Thursday stated that Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, is a good person whose ambitions are being derailed by his supporters.
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Ahmad made the comments in a post on his 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) handle, calling on Obi to abandon his 2027 presidential bid in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ahmad wrote, “Peter is a good person, but the people around him will never allow him to achieve his dream.”
He urged Obi’s supporters to encourage him to sacrifice today by aligning with Tinubu, adding that doing so would leave the future open for everyone.
Ahmad said, “If you genuinely want him to succeed, advise him to sacrifice today so that others can sacrifice for him tomorrow. Tell him to come and join us; let President Tinubu complete his mandate in 2031, and then the future remains open for everyone.”
Ahmad further criticised what he described as reckless content posted online by Obi’s supporters, warning that their behaviour online may be indicative of poor influence behind closed doors.
“With this reckless content you post publicly, one can only imagine the kind of things you tell him privately,” he said.
Ahmad’s remarks come amid reports that major opposition figures, including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and Obi, are considering a coalition to challenge Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
