The Super Eagles of Nigeria have put to rest the recent rift with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over unpaid bonuses and allowances, confirming that all outstanding payments have now been cleared.

Team captain William Troost-Ekong announced the resolution on Wednesday via his verified X handle, noting that the squad is now united and fully focused on Thursday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup CAF qualifier against Gabon in Rabat, Morocco.

> “Issue RESOLVED. Outstanding financials cleared and on ground. Team is UNITED and focused as before on representing NIGERIA with our maximum for the games ahead!” Ekong posted.

The captain’s announcement comes just days after reports surfaced that the Super Eagles boycotted a scheduled training session in protest of the unpaid allowances. The move, which raised concerns about morale in camp, prompted urgent intervention from top officials of the NFF to prevent the dispute from escalating ahead of the must-win fixture.

Although Ekong did not confirm whether the team eventually trained on Wednesday, sources within the camp suggested that preparations have resumed in earnest following the payment of entitlements.

According to the captain, the players had not made any fresh demands beyond the settlement of what was owed to them, emphasizing that their focus remains on securing qualification for the next stage of the World Cup qualifiers.

The Super Eagles will face Gabon at 4 p.m. on Thursday in Rabat, with the winner advancing to the play-off final to meet either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Head coach Eric Chelle has invited 24 players for the decisive encounter, including Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Moses Simon.

Nigeria reached this stage after a commanding 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in their previous outing. With the bonus dispute now resolved and full attention back on the pitch, fans will be eager to see a rejuvenated Super Eagles push for victory and move closer to a World Cup ticket.
