The Delta State Police Command has announced the commencement of full enforcement of tinted glass regulations across the state, effective October 2.

According to the Command in a Tuesday statement, the operation will be carried out “with professionalism, respect for constitutional rights, and zero tolerance for abuse.”

The command also restated the ban on unauthorised sirens, revolving or strobe lights, and the covering or defacing of vehicle number plates.

Motorists were reminded to carry their driver’s licence, insurance, proof of ownership, and ensure their glass meets legal transparency standards.

“Number plates must remain clear, legible, and properly affixed at all times; no bending, flipping, tinting, covering, sticker obstruction, or any alteration that renders them unreadable is permitted,” the statement read.

Its Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, said the clampdown is targeted at stopping illegal sirens, unauthorised flashing lights, and tampered plates, stressing that the measures are aimed at curbing road intimidation and improving public safety.

“Defaulters will be made to face the full wrath of the law,” he warned, while directing divisional heads to monitor operations closely and ensure civility.

The Command urged members of the public to comply and report any police misconduct through the Complaint Response Unit on 09155570008, 09011112311, 09064308018, or 09066575187.

Recall that the Nigeria Police Force had on August 11 extended the enforcement deadline for tinted glass permit enforcement, which was previously scheduled for August 12..

The police noted that following the previous deadline, there was a surge in applications via the official portal.

The extension could facilitate thorough scrutiny of the application process to ensure integrity and avert abuse.
