The revelation was contained in a report by Premium Times, which listed Buhari as one of those who contributed to the National Library completion project.

Obiasogu David, who posted a screenshot of the Premium Times report on X, questioned how Buhari, who died and was buried on 15 July, could have donated to a project announced on 2 September.

“According to Premium Times, the Late Former President, Buhari, is among the people who donated to Remi Tinubu’s birthday project for completing the National Library. How did Buhari, who died and was buried on July 15th, contribute to a project that was announced on September 2nd?” he asked.

The report said other donors included Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and his wife, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and his wife, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen and his wife, and state governors.

Remi claimed that the donations were meant to complete the National Library project, which had stalled for decades.

She said the account signatories were the Minister of Education and the Chief Librarian of the Federation, adding that hers was only to drive the funds.

Public reactions to the inclusion of Buhari’s name have ranged from disbelief to outrage, with many Nigerians mocking the credibility of the fundraiser.

One user wrote, “What do you mean? Is Abacha not sending money from the other side?” while another quipped, “But Abacha sends Nigeria money from the land of the dead.”

Critics say the listing of a dead donor raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in the fundraiser.
