The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Lagos State University (LASU) has emerged as the most sought-after institution in Nigeria, surpassing the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), according to new data released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) during its ongoing policy meeting in Abuja.

For years, UNILORIN topped the list of most preferred universities, largely due to its history of academic stability and minimal strike disruptions.

However, the latest figures show LASU now leads, followed by the University of Lagos (58,645 applicants) and UNILORIN (56,758 applicants).

The shift marks a significant change in applicant preferences for the 2025/2026 academic session.
