JUST IN: Super Falcons Wallop Tunisia 3-0 In WAFCON 2024 Group B Opener
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Nine-time champions Super Falcons of Nigeria thumped Tunisia 3-0 in a Group B encounter at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca on Sunday.
Asisat, Oshoala, Omorinsola Babajide, and Chiwendu Ihezuo were on target for Nigeria in the game.
Oshoala nodded home Babajide’s free kick for Nigeria’s opening goal after four minutes.
Deborah Abiodun came close to doubling the Super Falcons lead five minutes break the break.
The midfielder strolled past the Tunisian defence but failed to beat the goalkeeper.
Babajide doubled Nigeria’s lead with a brilliant strike on the dot of 45 minutes.
Defender Ashleigh Plumptre had a goal ruled out for a foul one minute later.
Head coach Madugu made three substitutions after the break with Chiwendu Ihezuo, Christy Ucheibe and Esther Okoronkwo replacing Oshoala, Abiodun, and Babajide after the break.
The Super Falcons maintained their dominance with Plumptre, and Osinachi Ohale coming close to getting on the score sheet.
Substitute Chiwendu Ihezuo netted Nigeria’s third goal six minutes from time.
