The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Popular Nigerian Human Right activist, VeryDarkMan has reopened public discourse around the unresolved death of late singer Mohbad, pledging to seek justice and clarity.
As part of his renewed efforts, he recently sat down for an interview with show promoter Sam Larry, marking Larry’s first public statement on the matter.
Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, leaving a lasting void in Nigeria’s music industry.
Nearly two years later, the circumstances surrounding his death remain mired in speculation, despite ongoing investigations and court proceedings.
In a recent Instagram Story, VeryDarkMan explained his decision to revisit the case, urging fans to stay calm and patient as new information emerges.
“I’m bringing up Mohbad’s case deliberately because he hasn’t gotten justice. My problem with most of you is that you won’t calm down. Zlatan is still alive—wait for the next evidence,” he wrote.
During his interview with Sam Larry, VeryDarkMan addressed the viral video showing Larry confronting Mohbad at a beach—footage that fueled allegations of harassment against the show promoter.
Responding to the clip, Sam Larry claimed the moment was misunderstood and taken out of context.
“That video was just nine seconds. I was with my son at the beach. When I saw Mohbad, I walked up to him to demand a refund for a show he didn’t perform at. Zlatan was there and quickly intervened. There was no assault,” he said.
When asked why rapper Zlatan Ibile has never publicly clarified the situation, Larry alleged that Zlatan was pressured to stay silent.
“Zlatan said if he talks, blood go comot for him mouth,” Larry stated, implying threats or fear of reprisal.
He also addressed speculation about his and Naira Marley’s whereabouts at the time of Mohbad’s death. According to him, he was in Dubai while Naira Marley was in Amsterdam.
VeryDarkMan’s renewed push for justice in the Mohbad case has reignited online debate, with many hoping his efforts will lead to long-awaited answers and accountability.
