JUST IN: House Of Representatives Propose Tax Exemption For Military Personnel
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that a tax exemption on personal income for military personnel in Nigeria has been proposed by the House of Representatives Committee on Finance.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Committee, Rt Hon James Abiodun Faleke, on Thursday during the clause-by-clause consideration of the four tax bills transmitted to the parliament by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.
Faleke stated at the event, “Mr. Speaker, honourable colleagues, the committee recommends exempting military personnel’s income from taxation due to the critical nature of their duties.”
The report of the Committee was earlier laid before the House on Tuesday by the Chairman, Rt Hon James Abiodun Faleke (APC, Lagos) while a meeting between the committee and the leadership of the House was held the same day before the consideration.
Lagos Panorama reports that all convention items on the House order paper were suspended by the House to allow deliberation and consideration of the bills.
Bulky copies of the report were brought into the Chamber in big sacks popularly known as ‘Ghana Must Go’.
The four bills were presented to the House for consideration by Faleke who appealed to the members to approve all the recommendations therein.
The proposal received unanimous approval.
