Ukraine Vs Russia War: US And Russia Agree On Four Principles [DETAILS]
The United States and Russia agreed on four principles after talks about ending the war in Ukraine lasted more than four hours in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
This was disclosed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
As reported by CNN, the four principles according to Rubio are as follows:
“To reestablish the functionality of our respective missions in Washington and Moscow. For us to be able to continue to move down this road, we need to have diplomatic facilities that are operating and functioning normally.”
“We’re going to appoint a high-level team from our end to help negotiate and work through the end of the conflict in Ukraine in a way that’s enduring and acceptable to all the parties engaged.”
“To begin to discuss and think about and examine both the geopolitical and economic cooperation that could result from an end to the conflict in Ukraine.”
“The five of us that were here today… are going to remain engaged in this process to make sure that it’s moving along in a productive way.”
Meanwhile, the five people Rubio referred to were himself, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
Recall that Russian and US officials were in Riyadh to discuss the way forward to end the nearly three-year war between Moscow and Ukraine.
But Kyiv and Europe were excluded from the negotiations on Tuesday.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed earlier that his country will not take part in the talks.
The talk is coming after last week’s call between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, where both leaders discussed launching negotiations on the war.
