FRESH: Victor Osimhen Drags Turkish Journalist Tolga Bozduman To Court For Defamation—–Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is pursuing legal action against Turkish journalist Tolga Bozduman, who accused him of assaulting him at an African restaurant two weeks ago.
The Genius Media Nigeria gathered that the hearing for this matter is set to begin in Turkey today, January 27.
Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been excelling in the Turkish Super Lig, significantly contributing to Galatasaray’s performances in both the league and the UEFA Europa League with an impressive tally of goals and assists.
However, he recently found himself embroiled in controversy following an encounter with the journalist after a match against Dynamo Kyiv that ended in a 3-3 draw.
The journalist alleged that Osimhen assaulted him while attempting to take photographs.
In a statement shared in a video reported by Pesindeyiz Galatasaray, Osimhen denied these allegations, stating, “I didn’t hit the journalists; they are lying. Why are you flashing your face? You have to ask permission for an interview. I told them they had to delete my photos. If I wanted to hit them, I would have.
“If I hit him, he’s going to get justice, and if he lied, he’s going to face the consequences of the law.”
Adding to the developments, radio host Buchi Laba reported that Osimhen is indeed taking legal steps for defamation. He emphasized that the hearing is expected to begin today.
Since joining Galatasaray last summer, the 26-year-old Nigeria international has showcased remarkable performance, having scored 16 goals and provided five assists in 21 appearances for the club.
