BREAKING: Kwara Community Crowns New Oloro Of Oro [PHOTO]—–The Oro community in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara has crowned its new traditional ruler, the Oloro of Oro, Oba Joel Olaniyi-Olufayo II.

The event, which took place on Monday at the Oro Grammar School in Irepodun LGA, witnessed a mammoth crowd of dignitaries, traditional leaders, and other well-wishers.

In his remarks, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, represented by Mr Femi Whyte, his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, congratulated the new traditional ruler.

The governor urged the traditional ruler to lead with integrity, fairness, and compassion.

“Your Royal Highness, as you ascend to the throne of your forefathers, you have been entrusted with a sacred responsibility to lead the good people of Oro kingdom with integrity, fairness, and compassion.

“I want to urge you to see this appointment as a call to service that will protect and preserve our collective heritage and culture,” the governor said.

Abdulrazak added that the government would continue to work tirelessly to ensure the community’s progress and development.

In his speech, Oba Olufayo II thanked the dignitaries for attending the ceremony and promised a peaceful and developmental reign.

“I am honoured and humbled by the presence of our esteemed guests. We will work for the progress and development of our kingdom, while maintaining peace and harmony among our people,” he stated.

The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of the Ade Ibile to the new traditional ruler in a task carried out by the Asiwaju of Oro Kingdom, Rear Adm. Azeez Afolayan (rtd.) alongside the council of Chiefs.

Afolayan praised the new Oloro of Oro, saying; “Oba Olufayo II is a man of great wisdom and integrity. I have no doubt that he will lead our kingdom to greater heights.”

Also present at the event included traditional ruler, Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Alebiosu, representative of Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha.

Oba Alebiosu described the event as a momentous occasion for the people of Oro.

He said: “I pray that Oba Olufayo II will have a peaceful and prosperous reign.”

House of Representatives member representing Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, Tunji Olawuyi, members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, and other top government functionaries, were also present.

In a chat with newsmen, Mr Biodun Ajiboye, Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), described the coronation ceremony as a significant event in the history of the Oro community.
