BREAKING: FG Announces Public Holidays For Christmas And New Year Celebrations—–The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations.
Minister of interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement on Monday signed by the permanent secretary Magdalene Ajani.
In the announcement, Tunji-Ojo extended warm greetings to Nigerians, urging them to reflect on the values of love, peace and unity that the season represents.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” said Tunji-Ojo.
He emphasised the need to use the festive period to strengthen family and community bonds while fostering harmony and mutual understanding.
Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to remain committed to national peace, unity and progress which are vital for the country’s development. He reassured citizens of the Federal Government’s dedication to maintaining peace, security and prosperity across the nation.
In his message, the minister expressed confidence in the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that the New Year would usher in a brighter and more prosperous future for the country.
