BREAKING: Court Fixes Date For Pro-Biafran Activist Simon Ekpa’s Trial—-Finnish authorities have confirmed that Simon Ekpa, a pro-Biafran activist, will face potential terrorism-related charges in May 2025.

Ekpa, known for his leadership in the Biafra Republic Government-in-Exile, was arrested alongside four others last week on suspicions of inciting violence and financing terrorism.

The Finnish Central Criminal Police alleged that Ekpa used social media to promote violent activities in Nigeria’s South-East, including attacks on civilians and government personnel.

Local reports revealed that the Päijät-Häme District Court has ordered his detention on charges related to public incitement with terrorist intent.

Investigations linked Ekpa to the enforcement of sit-at-home orders, which have caused significant economic damage in Nigeria’s South-East region.

Authorities believe his directives, carried out by the Eastern Security Network, have contributed to insecurity and disrupted lives in the region.

Finnish police have indicated that their investigation involves international collaboration, though further details on cross-border efforts remain undisclosed.

Ekpa’s activities have previously drawn global criticism, with calls for intervention from Nigeria, the European Union, and human rights groups.

Ekpa’s arrest follows a history of controversial actions, including his opposition to Nigeria’s 2023 general elections, which sparked violent enforcement measures.
