BREAKING: #Bobrisky Granted Bail By EFCC [DETAILS]—–The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has granted bail to Nigerian crossdresser and internet personality, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
However, sources revealed to Linda Ikeji’s Blog that Bobrisky has not yet met the conditions for his bail. The specific conditions attached to his release remain undisclosed at this time.
Bobrisky’s arrest by the EFCC occurred on Wednesday, April 3rd, at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State. Confirming the arrest, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that Bobrisky was detained for currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira, with plans for him to face court charges soon. The commission shared Bobrisky’s mugshot, shedding light on the circumstances leading to his arrest, including his attendance at Eniola Ajao’s movie premiere, “Ajanaku.”
In response to Bobrisky’s arrest, social media users circulated a video showing him spraying money at the movie premiere, with many defending his actions as a common practice at Nigerian events. Some speculated that the EFCC aimed to use Bobrisky as a scapegoat.
Amidst the controversy, Bobrisky’s longtime rival, Very Dark Man (VDM), expressed satisfaction with his arrest, warning the estate owner where Bobrisky resides to steer clear of the EFCC investigation. VDM hinted at instigating Bobrisky’s arrest by planning to file a petition against him for suspected money laundering. He also suggested that any influential figure advocating for Bobrisky’s release might have a close relationship with him.
Comedian Ali Baba criticized Bobrisky’s arrest, questioning its fairness compared to instances where female celebrities faced similar accusations. Last year, EFCC arraigned actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin for currency abuse, resulting in her sentencing to six months in prison or a fine of N300,000.
