Pep Guardiola‘s side doubled their advantage before the interval thanks to an own goal by Fluminense skipper Nino before Phil Foden grabbed his side’s third in the 72nd minute.
Alvarez got his second in the final minutes to add gloss to a result that was never in any real doubt. The result did however come at a cost as Rodri was forced off through injury in the second half.
