JUST IN: #EFCC Arrests Ex-CBN Governor Godwin #Emefiele Few Hours After #DSS Released Him—-The genius Media Nigeria reports that the former governor of Central Bank Of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has been re-arrested by the economic and financial crime commission (EFCC) few hours after he was released from DSS custody.
He has been in DSS custody for several months due to allegations bothering on financing terrorism.
According to report, a reliable source who pleaded anonymity revealed this development.
However, he was immediately taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for interrogation, and there are indications that fresh charges will be filed against him.
Emefiele had been in DSS custody since June after President Bola Tinubu suspended him.
He was initially arraigned on a two-count charge related to “illegal possession” of firearms but the charges were later withdrawn.
A fresh 20-count charge was filed against him, and Emefiele had proposed a plea bargain agreement, which included his resignation as CBN governor.
He officially resigned from the CBN on September 22.
