Anyim Pius Anyim, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain is reportedly making moves to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP’s fatal loss at the 2023 presidential election has continued to deal a heavy blow to the once-upon-a-time largest party in West Africa. This is as top members of the party continue to make secret moves to dump the party, according to sources who spoke to Newsmen at the weekend.

Days before the 2023 presidential election, the faceoff between Atiku Abubakar flagbearer of the PDP, and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state got worse, leading to the latter’s rumoured alignment with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed of the APC who was eventually pronounced winner at the polls.

Wike along with his colleague governors in a calculated move to truncate Atiku’s effort at the polls formed a formidable group nicknamed the G5.
According to sources, the G5 governors according to sources with their various state mercenaries reportedly worked for the victory of Asiwaju, a gamble that turned out to their advantage with the exception of former Governor Samuel Ortom who reportedly worked for Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Since losing the 2023 presidential election to President Tinubu the APC, the PDP has been making efforts to recuse itself from implosion.
For instance, there are strong indications that Wike is already on his way out of the party, having accepted a ministerial slot from the Tinubu administration. Wike has been screened by the Senate.

The Genius Media Nigeria understands that apart from Wike, another chieftain of the PDP, Senate Anyim Pius Anyim is also allegedly perfecting plans to join the former governor of his State, Ebonyi, Senator David Umahu in APC.
Anyim reportedly held a secret meeting with the new National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, at his residence in Abuja.
This newspaper reports that the former Secretary to the Federal Government, Ayim Pius had discussions with Ganduje, but the outcome of the meeting is still unknown at the filing of this report.

You would recall that during the last general election, Anyim, a key member of the PDP, dumped his party’s guber candidate in Ebonyi, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii for the APC candidate, now Governor Francis Nwifuru.

Although, it is unclear whether he supported the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar during the presidential election.
Only a few weeks earlier, Anyim also had met with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock in early July, a sign many interpreted as a plot to cross over to the ruling APC.

The former Senate President and former SGF told reporters after meeting with Tinubu that “It was a great honour to pay courtesy to the President and congratulate him, first and foremost, for his successful inauguration as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and also to encourage and congratulate him for the bold decisions he has taken so far.”
