The Genius media Nigeria reports that Emefiele made the plea when he appeared before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
The appearance in court was the first time that Emefiele was seen in public since he was suspended and then arrested while in Lagos on June 10, 2023, two weeks after President Bola Tinubu was inaugurated.
