BREAKING: Inter Miami Officially Confirms Gerardo Martino As New Head Coach, Reunites With #Messi—The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Gerardo Martino has officially be confirmed as Inter Miami head coach.
Martino, who won the 2018 MLS Cup with Atlanta United as well, could reportedly be introduced as soon as Wednesday.
He and Messi worked together for one season at Barcelona from 2013-14, and then from 2014-16 with the Albiceleste, where Martino led the team to two consecutive Copa America finals appearances.
Martino most recently manned the Mexican national team at the World Cup in Qatar, but was fired after his squad failed to advance past the group stage.
His reported arrival in Miami comes after the ouster of previous coach Phil Neville earlier this month amid the team’s poor form.
