HAPPENING NOW: #Agege, #Ojota, Mile 12 On Fire Amid Naira Scarcity [VIDEO]—The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Civil unrest erupted in parts of Ojota and Mile 12 areas of Lagos State on Friday.

According to video sighted online, some youths in the axis were firing gunshots sporadically and brandishing various weapons to disrupt peace.

Vehicles approaching Mile 12 from Ikorodu were unable to pass due to the violence, and had to turn back for fear of attacks.

The cause of the violence remains unclear as of press time, and even the police had no answers.

When Newsmen called Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, he said normalcy had been restored to the area but the police were investigating the cause of the violence.

Muyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, however, tweeted, saying police officers had been dispatched to the area.

He described the instigators as protesters destroying private and public institutions, and said anyone doing so “would be treated as an armed robber”.

Protests have been occurring across the country since the Central Bank of Nigeria and President Muhammadu Buhari insisted on the illegality of old N500 and N1,000 notes.
