BREAKING: #Chelsea, #Arsenal, #Tottenham Dumped Out Of #CarabaoCup [SEE OTHER RESULTS] – #MCICHE—The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Premier League giants, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, were on Wednesday dumped out of the Carabao Cup after losing to Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, respectively.

At the Etihad Stadium, Chelsea were beaten 2-0 by a much-changed City side.

Manchester City wasted no time in showing their intent after Julian Alvarez closed down Edouard Mendy in the second minute, but the deflection went wide.

Jack Grealish, who would be looking forward to getting on England’s plane to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, quickly tested Chelsea’s back three of Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly and Nathaniel Chalobah in the ninth minute, but his effort went wide of the goal.

Chelsea then went forward with their own attack in the 12th minute, but Stefan Ortega was equal to the task. Although the shot was tame, the German stopper, who was named man-of-the-match, saved to deny Chelsea a chance to go ahead.

Pulisc was on target again in the 23rd minute but Ortega was again ready for the test.

Grealish again tested Mendy, but the Senagalese saved in the 50th minute. The former Aston Villa midfielder was back knocking in the 51st minute, but Mendy denied him again as Manchester City laid siege to Chelsea’s goal.

Chelsea saw the danger coming after Chalobah committed a could close to the box in the 53rd minute.

With City ahead, their rhythm became tougher for Chelsea to break, and they got another in the 58th minute through Alvarez. The Argentine had poked home after Mendy parried  Mahrez’s shot.

Chelsea had their own chances, but Ortega was the stumbling block as Graham Potter’s men laboured in vain. Hakim Ziyech thought he had beaten the German stopper in the 55th minute, but his cross, which looked goal-bound, was pushed to safety.  He also saved from Lewis Hall in the 63rd minute after Ziyech’s brilliant work to beat his marker. It was the second time Ortega stood between Hall and a goal for Chelsea.

Manchester City tried to put the game beyond Chelsea’s reach, with Grealish snaking through the Blues’ defence, only for his shot to be blocked by a sliding Cucurella and Koulibaly in the 66th minute.

With time running out, Potter threw on Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling, Cesar Azpilicueta, Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher.

In the 84th minute, Azpilicueta found Pulisic in the City box, but he could not connect to the cross after Havertz also tried to head the ball. Five minutes later, City substitute Nathan Ake scored an own goal, but the linesman’s flag was up for offside.

The game ended in another loss for Chelsea and an ouster from the League Cup.
