#OsunDecides2022: #Adeleke Warns #INEC Against Post-Election Manipulation

#OsunDecides2022: #Adeleke Warns #INEC Against Post-Election Manipulation—The Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against tampering with the July 16 gubernatorial electoral materials in Osun State.

Senator Adeleke in a release signed by his Chairman, Media Management Team, Prince Diran Odeyemi in Ede alleged that there were rumours milling round the state that the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) are romancing the INEC to tamper with some electoral materials that could be used against the victory of the governor elect in their alleged proposed brief at the Election Petition Tribunal.

The statement alleged that some of the APC leaders have been moving around Local Government Offices of the Commission to liaise with the INEC officials to tamper with some of the Electoral Materials in their custodies.

Senator Adeleke called on the INEC chairman, Professor Mahmod Yakubu to call his officials in Osun State to order so as to prevent them from perpetrating the dastardly act.

He urged the INEC boss to direct the submission of all the electoral materials to the state headquarters amidst tight security.

It would be recalled that Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday.

The Chief Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Prof Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe announced Adeleke winner after polling 403,371 votes across the state.

Adeleke defeated the incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the ruling All Progressives Congress who polled 375,027 votes.

Ogundipe, under heavy security presence declared Adeleke as the Governor-elect.
Adeleke won 17 of the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. His closest rival, Oyetola, however, won in the remaining 13 LGAs.
