The Former Vice President who emerged as the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday defeated Governor Wike with 371 votes to 237 votes for the Rivers State Governor.
The Governor was widely said to have been disappointed by the result of the election, especially what was termed as a betrayal by Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who withdrew at the last minute, making it difficult for him to respond to his decision.
He had been rumored to be ready to support any other candidate but the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
The visit by the former Vice President is one to mend fences by the former ruling party and present a common front against the All Progressives Congress who are yet to.
