Global Downtime As WhatsApp – Facebook And Instagram Goes Down—The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Social media apps Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp on Monday experienced downtime all over the world.
This reliable platform gathered that Users of the apps could not access them from late in the afternoon in what appears to be the biggest blackout for the apps this year.
The three apps used mainly by young persons are owned by US-based Facebook.
A spokesman for Facebook Andy Stone said, “We are aware some people have trouble accessing our apps and products. We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for it.”
The outage comes hours after a former Facebook whistleblower, Frances Haugen, accused the firm of prioritising “growth over safety”.
In an interview on Sunday, the former product manager on Facebook’s civic integrity team explained that the company was only concerned about profit and was unbothered about users’ safety. Facebook, however, denied the allegations.
Experts say the outage might be caused by an error with domain name system (DNS) for Facebook sites.
