BREAKING: Popular Nigerian Senator Is Dead—The Genius Media Nigeria gathered that Senator Dr Olabode Olowoporoku a political petrel from Ekiti State in Nigeria is dead.

The announcement of his passing away during a brief illness came through a press statement from his family.

Dr (Sen) Bode Olowoporoku passed away at the age of 84.

A statement signed by Ayodeji Olowoporoku on behalf of the family reads:

“We regret to announce the passage to eternity of our dear husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Dr Olabode Olowoporoku, who peacefully passed away at his residence on March 24, 2021 after a brief illness. Dr Olowoporoku was born in Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State in 1945 to the family of Mr Josiah Olowoporoku and Mrs Otutu Jolade of Irorin quarters.

“He attended the then University of Ife for his first degree in Economics and won a scholarship by Ford Foundation to undertake a postgraduate study at University of Manchester where he bagged his Masters’ degree in Economics in 1972. He later got his doctorate degree in Development Economics at the University in 1975.

“He began his illustrious academic career as a lecturer at the University of Ife, where he built a reputation of high-level intellectual profile and scholastic erudition. He was a thorough-bred scholar-politician who was part of the conclave of the intelligentsia that gave the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN its ideological foundation and policy direction.

“As a young man, his passion was to offer selfless service to his immediate community and motherland. He served exceptionally as Commissioner for Economic Planning and Statistics in Ondo State in 1979 and supervised the creation of most of the industries and commercial investment that the Ajasin administration was reputed for.

“He was consumed with the idea of Ekiti emancipation and development, and so had to painfully part way with the UPN in 1981 because of what he and other Ekiti compatriots who served in the Government of Chief Adekunle Ajasin as governor of Ondo State perceived as injustice to and marginalisation of Ekiti people then.

He later politically aligned with the National Party of Nigeria, NPN and was appointed Federal Minister of Science and Technology under the Shagari regime before the military took over government in 1983.

 

“The was at the forefront in the agitation for the creation of ekiti state, providing extensive funding, and also playing a prominent role working with the council of ekiti obas and the committee for the creation of ekiti state, and utilized his robust network through his close friends olusola saraki and adamu ciroma to meet the late abacha for the creation of ekiti state.
He served as Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District between 2003-2007. Due to his love for Ekiti State and its people, he offered to serve as the Governor of Ekiti State on three occasions but as fate would have it, he was not elected.

He was a nationalist, a proud Ekiti elder statesman and philanthropist. We will miss him dearly for his irreplaceable role as a caring father.

BREAKING: President Muhammadu Buhari Son-In-Law Declared Wanted Over N31 Billion Fraud—-Gimba Yau Kumo, the son-in-law of Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has been declared wanted over N31 billion fraud.

The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Gimba Yau Kumo and two others were on Thursday declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, over diversion and misappropriation of $65 million National Housing fund.

Buhari son-in-law, a former managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, who in 2016 married Mr Buhari’s second daughter Fatima, Mr. Tarry Rufus and Mr. Bola Ogunsola, were declared wanted over misappropriation and diversion of $65 million National Housing fund.

ICPC Spokesperson, Azuka C. Ogugua, in a statement, urged the public to provide information about the whereabouts of Mr Kumo and his cohort.

“The persons whose pictures appear above, Mr. Tarry Rufus, Mr. Gimba Yau Kumo and Mr. Bola Ogunsola, are hereby declared WANTED by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in connection with issues bordering on misappropriation of National Housing Funds and diversion of the sum of Sixty Five Million dollars ($65,000,000),” the commission said.

Before now, Mr Kumo was being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over a N3billon fraud.

Though President Buhari campaigned on riding Nigerian public service of corruption, saying Nigeria must kill corruption before it kills Nigerians, his allies and associates have been fingered in sundry corruption cases.

Meanwhile, Peoples Gazette reported how late Isa Funta, an ally of Mr Buhari, got millions of naira from Federal Inland Revenue Service and how present Acting EFCC Chair was involved theft before he was tapped for the job by Mr. Buhari.

Transparency International in its 2020 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) reported In January, that Nigeria’s ratings plunged to 149 on a categorised scale for “highly corrupt” countries — three places down from its 146th position in 2019.
