Incoming Vice President, Kamala Harris Reveals Why She Loves Converse Chucks—The United States Incoming Vice President, Kamala Harris has talked about her lifelong love for “Chucks,” which her husband, Doug Emhoff happily backed up.
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were grilled by Jane Pauley on “Sunday Morning” about her penchant for Converse Chucks. She wore them a lot on the campaign trail and Jane seemed genuinely disappointed Kamala chose something more formal for the interview.
When asked when it became a thing, Harris said it was not just something she started wearing on the campaign or, for that matter, on the cover of Vogue.
She explained Chucks have been part of her life forever and she loves them because they’re super comfortable.
Kamala said;
“[Converse are] my casual go-to. You know, I grew up with Chucks. I just love them. They’re comfortable.”
Doug joked she has “several closets full of them” (“He’s exaggerating,” Kamala responded) and she didn’t start wearing the shoes on the campaign trail. “When I met her, it was Chucks and jeans,” he said.
Indeed, Kamala’s Converse connection has followed her all the way to the White House, including her February Vogue cover which was released last weekend. For Doug, the sneakers are an extension of his wife’s “down-to-earth” personality.
He said;
“People ask me all the time, like, ‘What’s she really like?’ I said, ‘She’s shockingly normal.’ I think that is really an extension of who she really is.”
