What Finidi George Said About Mo’Salah Joining Real Madrid

Super Eagles Legend and former Ajax winger, Finidi George who once snubbed the chance to star for Los Blancos believed Liverpool star, Mo’Salah could thrive in the Spanish capital.

Finidi believes Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah would excel at Real Madrid should the Reds star considers switching the Premier League for the La Liga Santander.

Salah’s 16 goals and six assists contributed in 26 games are about to lead Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years, a feat that could see him become an Anfield legend.

With the 27-year-old having already won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the World Club Cup, there would be little left to prove in England, and a move to Spain could soon be on the cards for the former Roma star.

Barcelona remain a viable option for Salah should he consider leaving England, especially with Lionel Messi nearing the end of an incredible career and Neymar looking too expensive for the Catalans.

But Finidi, who chose Betis over Real Madrid in 1996 when leaving Ajax, has advised Salah to chose Zinedine Zidane’s side over other suitors because of their style of play.

“I think the way Mohamed Salah plays is appropriate for Real Madrid because English football is fast, and Madrid is evolving that way. And I think we can see Salah playing well with Real Madrid,” opined Finidi in quotes carried by AfricaFootUnited.

Liverpool held a 25-point advantage over second-placed Manchester City and were cruising to their first-ever Premier League title before the campaign was halted due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 disease.
