Barcelona Football Club (FCB) legend Leonel Messi scored 4 goals against Eibar in a 5-0 match victory to end his longest goal drought in La Liga Santander since six years.

The Argentine scored his last goal of the competition in January, but has failed to score against Valencia, Levante and Real Betis.

FCB’s Saturday match began with a boo on club’s President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, an action which delayed the kick off.

The atmosphere surrounding the Camp Nou changed when Messi found the back of the net 14 minutes after kickoff, which put the club in an early lead.

Leo 32, added 2 more goals in the 36 and 39 minutes of the first half to give Barcelona a comfortable 3-0 lead before half time.

The 6 times Ballon d’ Or winner added to his tally in the 87th minute to keep FCB 4 goals up in the game, thereby increasing his La Liga goal tally for the season to 18.

Arthur Melo converted a rebound from a kick by Barcelona’s new signing, Martin Braithwaite to increase the score to 5-0 in the 89 minute.

Barcelona is currently top of the league table with 55 points, while Real Madrid is second with 53 points and an outstanding game.

In 2017, Messi had scored 4 goals against Eibar in a La Liga game which ended 6-1.
