Manchester United completed the signing of one-time Watford striker Odion Ighalo from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua on deadline day, Soccernet.ng reports. The Nigerian joins Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team on a six-month loan deal, making a return to the English Premier League, three years after departing for the Chinese Super League.
The 2019 African Cup of Nations top scorer is expected to be a short term solution to United’s striking problem, compounded by the injury to star man and England international Marcos Rashford.
Man United’s boss Solskjaer has already hailed the capture of Ighalo, calling the 30-year-old an ‘experienced’ lad.
However, a significant section of the club’s fans is stunned by the signing of a striker who netted 16 goals in 55 Premier League appearances for the Hornets during his first spell in the country.
