Controversial American televangelist Benny Hinn has declared the ‘evil powers’ of ‘Islam’ within the leadership of Nigeria will soon ‘be broken’.
Speaking on October 12th 2019 in Ghana at a Christian event dubbed the ‘Experience Conference’, Pastor Hinn first declared Ghana a Christian nation before turning his attention to neighbouring Nigeria.
“The Lord declares the evil powers in Nigeria will be broken,” he declared to enthusiastic applause.
“I see two years before that power begins to shatter in Nigeria. God will begin to defeat the purpose of Islam in Nigeria,” he continued, leading attendees in prayer at The Maker’s House Chapel International in Accra.
Alhaji Irbard Ibrahim, a Ghanaian Muslim activist and security analyst, called on Hinn to be ‘banned from entering Ghana again’ due to his ‘divisive’ message.
“This man, on Ghanaian soil, mentioned Islam by name and classified the Muslim leadership of Nigeria as evil powers. We can’t tolerate this,” he said.
In the same service, Hinn stated: “I declare Ghana to be a Christian nation and remain a Christian nation. No foreign demon or spirit will ever have dominion over the government of Ghana!”
This assertion equally drew criticism from Ghana’s Muslim community. “In what capacity does he declare Ghana a Christian nation,” asked Ibrahim.
“Isn’t that an affront to our constitution? In future, let’s invite preachers whose messages unite, not divide.”
Benny Hinn recently made headlines throughout the Christian world for backtracking from the ‘Prosperity Gospel’.
