Nollywood star and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Desmond Elliot has been declared winner of the Surulere1 state Constituency election in Lagos by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Elliot polled 15,357 votes to defeat PDP candidate, Benjamin Olasunkanmi who gained only 3,628 votes.
Returning officer, Dr Bolajoko Dixon-Ogbechi from the University of Lagos, made the declaration on Sunday, at the Surulere Local Government Collation Centre in Lagos.
Dixon-Ogbechi stated that the total number of registered voters in the constituency was 134939, accredited voters was 20340, valid votes – 19357 while the total number of rejected votes was 973.
She further announced “That Desmond Olusola Elliot of APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner and is returned elected.”
