It was the first time he was sent off in 15 years of playing in the Champions League.

He couldn’t launch an appeal against the straight red received in the 29th minute at the Mestalla.

The former United star clashed with Murillo before the Valencia defender fell theatrically to the ground.

Ronaldo reached down and appeared to grab the hair of the defender, who then stood up and squared up to the Juventus forward.

The 33-year-old was given the marching orders for the 11th time in his career and walked off sobbing.
