This is just as he also disclosed that over 26,000 persons applied for the available 1,500 teaching vacancies advertised by the state government.

Nathan, who dispelled rumours that the state government has cancelled the employment because of budgetary constraints, added that very soon 18,000 of those shortlisted for screening interviews will be contacted.

He said, “Over 26,000 people applied for 1,500 teaching job vacancies, but 18,000 out of that number were able to submit their completed application forms. The selection board decided to shortlist all the 18,000 successful applicants but categorized them into two groups because some of those who applied are already teachers with the state Universal Basic education board.”

He also advocated for the review and implementation of the new minimum wage and urged the Nigerian labour Congress to ensure the implementation of the N56,000 national minimum wage before the end of
2018.
