The former England and Chelsea captain has been a free agent since leaving Aston Villa.

The former Blues’ star has been deliberating for several months over continuing his playing career and had been linked with a return to Villa as well as potential move to Celtic.

The 37-year-old, however, has decided to sign for the Russian side and was filmed in Italy earlier on Saturday where he was due to undertake a medical.

Spartak is currently managed by Massimo Carrera, who was Conte’s assistant at Juventus and with the Italian national team.

The newspaper reports that Carrera sought Conte’s opinion of Terry and, after consultation, decided to sanction a move for the Chelsea legend.

Despite starting just nine Premier League games under Conte, Terry shared a close relationship with the now former Chelsea head coach.

The England legend will be offered a lucrative £1.8million salary after tax and the Daily Telegraph claims there could also be the option of a second year
