A father-of-six, Anthony Odur, has died five days after getting involved in a fight with the headteacher of the school of one of his children.

According to Uganda’s Daily Monitor, Odur had a fight with Mr Jackson Ongom, the head teacher of Alyat Primary School in Aboke Sub-county last Tuesday, for allegedly failing to contribute Shs5,000 ($49) for development fund.

Police, which has since arrested Ognom revealed that trouble started when the Parents Teachers Association of the school in their recent meeting resolved that the parents of all 826 children enrolled at Alyat Primary School contribute Shs5,000 each for repairing a school borehole which had broken down.

Consequently, Mr Odur’s child was reportedly sent back home to bring the Shs5,000. This was after the father had already paid the said fee.

This, according to sources, prompted the victim to go to school and demand accountability for his contribution.

However, the confrontation turned violent, as the headteacher allegedly hit Odur on the head with a piece of metal before pushing him out of his office.
The parent sustained injuries on the head and some parts of his body and was rushed to Aboke health centre IV for treatment.

On Sunday, Odur died on the way to Gift Life Clinic in Lira, where he was referred for further management following his deteriorating condition.

Even though there has been no medical confirmation, the wife of the deceased has said that the injuries inflicted on her late husband, led to his demise.
