ACADEMY HALOGEN CANVASES PARTNERSHIP WITH POLICE ON CRIME PREVENTION, COMMUNITY SAFETY

Collaboration between the Nigerian Police and the private security companies in Nigeria has been emphasized as germane to achieving optimal result in crime prevention and wholesome community safety.

The Managing Director of Halogen Security Company Limited, Mr. Wale Olaoye said this at a one-day action learning workshop organized by Academy Halogen on Crime Prevention and Community Safety with men and Officers of the Nigerian Police and some representatives of the Nigerian Army in attendance. “Nigeria has a huge population and a Police Force with limited logistics to manage the ever increasing crime rates in the country. It will be a great idea if the Police can partner with the organized private security companies in the country,” he said.

 

Olaoye who delivered a paper titled; Private Sector’s Role in Crime Prevention and Safety noted that with Halogen Security’s multi-dimensional expertise in the security business over the past twenty-six years will be very useful in crime prevention and community safety if enabled to partner with the Nigerian Police and other Nigerian security outfits. The company according to him, has over twenty thousand well trained Men spread across nook and crannies of Nigeria.

 

In his contribution, the Chief-Operating Officer, Academy Halogen, Dr. Wale Adeagbo said Academy Halogen, a subsidiary of Halogen Security Company Limited which specializes in training senior and other levels of security management experts will continuously raise quality conversation on the issue of security and national development to create all the necessary societal impact. He commended the Inspector General of Police for lending his voice behind community Policing and raising eminent personality towards tackling crime rate in the country.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Patrick Atayero who represented Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2, Adamu Ibrahim noted that all security Agencies would need to collaborate effectively to be able to tackle the rising contemporary security issues in the country. He commended the management of Halogen Security for its progressive strides and continuous investment in security management.

 

Gender perspectives in security management came to the fore at the security workshop. Mrs Rotimi Omotola, Director, Citizens’ Mediation Services, Lagos State stressed the need for inclusion of Women in mediation and peace making processes.

Also, the Administrative Manager, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) Mr. Degbola Louis, emphasized the place of proper funding in security management matters. He cited the revolutionary strides of the current administration in Lagos State and how it has successfully changed the face of community policing in the state.

However, Halogen Security Company Limited has expressed plans on its scope of operation beyond the shore of Nigeria.
